A Cowies Hill woman was injured after she jumped from a balcony following a traumatic armed robbery in broad daylight on Friday.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said an armed robber held up the resident in her Hillside Crescent home after she returned home from working a night shift. The incident occurred at around 11.40am.
“The resident had gone to sleep, but when she heard noises in the house she awoke to find a suspect crawling into her bedroom. He held her up at knifepoint and tied her up before ransacking her house. The woman managed to untie herself and jumped from a balcony, while the robber fled out the front door with a cellphone and jewellery, dropping the keys for the house outside,” Mathios said.
“She sustained injuries from the fall and a family member transported her to a medical facility for treatment,” he said.
Pinetown SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
