Incident: Three Suspect Attempted Burglary Â
In an action packed morning, Blue Security working with Kloof Street Patrols came away with three arrests and an Uber vehicle used in the crime.
It all started at 1.30am when our Community Command Centre received multiple activations from two properties in Kloof, immediately we dispatched our dedicated Memorial Park vehicle who came across three suspects outside the property. Upon questioning, the suspects fled and our Crime Prevention Officer (CPO) immediately called for backup – One suspect was apprehended by the CPO despite resisting.
Our backup CPO’s included our Area Manager, Tactical Member, and two further Kloof Blue Security vehicles. We questioned the suspect that we had caught and got him to call his co-accused to say he was successful with the burglary and to meet him. Our CPO’s hid their vehicles and laid in wait for the suspects to return. This strategy paid off with the two suspects being apprehended by the team. Unfortunately one further suspect managed to avoid arrest.
While the suspects were being searched, one of them was not looking well at all, we immediately assisted with water and first aid, however the suspect collapsed. Our medical partners, Redline attended and declared him deceased due to a heart attack. Further to this an amount of Whoonga was found on the deceased.
One of the suspects then got a phone call from their Uber asking where the pickup point was, our team immediately arranged another sting to intercept the driver. This worked flawlessly with the Uber driver arrested and vehicle impounded by Kloof SAPS.
The above success is down to the excellent teamwork and resources we have at Blue Security, a special mention must be made to Sam Shallcross who co-ordinated her team of Kloof Street Patrollers and worked with our Community Command Centre. The Kloof Patrol team played a pivotal part in this success.
Our recently implemented All Good in the Hood initiative paid dividends with enhanced camera infrastructure to track movements of the suspects and the Uber, as well as our tactical officer as lead strategist on the ground. Our Command Centre was pivotal in being the central communications hub using resources both internal and external.
