A security guard was held up at gunpoint whilst a gang of armed suspects robbed a business in Mayville on Friday morning.
“The Blue Security reaction officer found the guard when he arrived at the premises to investigate the alarm activation,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.
“A gang of six armed suspects had arrived in a luxury vehicle just before 5.30am. One of the men got out of the car and pointed a firearm at the guard,” he said. “The gang then entered the premises and proceeded to break open the front security gate and force open the front door – all the while keeping the guard at gunpoint,” he said.
“The offices were ransacked and the gang fled after stealing the computers,” he said. “No shots were fired during the incident and the guard was not injured. Mayville SAPS attended the scene and investigations are continuing,” he said.
