Blue Security scooped KZN’s Top Brand award at the Standard Bank KZN Top Business Awards 2019, last week. The company, which last year won the award for being the top business service provider in the province and came second in the best brand category, was chosen as the top brand, in the province, in a public online poll ahead of the awards event. The award winners were announced at a gala dinner in Durban on Thursday night.

KZN Top Business Portfolio CEO and publisher, Grant Adlam, said the firm was voted the top brand out of more than 500 local brands, with stiff competition for the top spots. He said some firms had run high profile media campaigns and competitions to publicise their participation in the event. “For Blue Security to win this award is an incredible feat. It is a feather in their cap and shows that they have a loyal clientele and after 30 years in business they are doing well,” Adlam said.

Blue Security CEO, Henk Van Bemmelen, said winning the award was an “awesome” achievement and the culmination of a team effort across the firm.  The company employs 600 people in the province and provides a professional alarm monitoring and armed response service to thousands of residential and business customers in the greater Durban and Ballito areas.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised by both our customers and the wider public as the top brand in the province. This accolade is an achievement we attribute to the sheer dedication and professionalism of our staff who come to work every day to serve and protect our communities. We would like to thank all of our customers, residents, business people and fans who took the time to vote and chose us as their favourite brand,” said Van Bemmelen.

Van Bemmelen said the firm is committed to continue working closely with the police, neighbourhood watch groups, residents and businesses to fight crime in the city. He said technology is playing a growing role in the business’s operations. “We are committed to working together and forming partnerships in communities to strengthen the arm of the law against criminals, to make our neighbourhoods safer and smarter,” he said.

“Technology is playing an ever increasing role in the fight against crime and we will continue to invest in rolling out our proven smart security solutions, such as automatic number plate recognition cameras  (ANPR), which have resulted in many successes, including arrests and the recovery of stolen vehicles,” he said.

Blue Security has also been voted as the best security company in KZN for the past 11 years in a row, winning Diamond Awards in the PMR Awards. The firm has also repeatedly been recognised in the awards as being as the company doing the most to fight crime in the province.
