Blue Security’s tactical team and armed response officers arrested several suspects in the Durban North area at the weekend.
Blue Security tactical ambassador for Durban North Darrel Moodley said the latest arrest occurred this morning when an armed response officer and tactical member Micheon Makhathini apprehended an alleged robber in Prince Umhlangane Road. The incident occurred after 9am.
“The suspect, who was armed with a large knife, held up a woman and robbed her of her cellphone, wallet and cash. Our officers managed to apprehend the suspect and recovered the victim’s cellphone. The suspect was handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS,” Moodley said.
Moodley said an armed response officer arrested a business burglar who he apprehended on the premises at around 6.21pm on Saturday. “Our officer arrived at the scene to find the office had been ransacked. Upon further investigation on the premises he found a suspect who was wearing a balaclava, still on the property in the finance department,” Moodley said.
“The suspect was armed with a pair of scissors, which he had used to break open gate to gain entry. The suspect was in possession of two bags containing an undisclosed sum of cash a laptop. He was arrested and handed over to the Durban Central SAPS at the scene of the crime,” Moodley said.
Moodley added that a trespasser was arrested earlier on Saturday at around 1.43pm. “Our officer arrived at the premises where he spotted a suspect jumping over the fence in an attempt to make a getaway. When he noticed our officer he dropped the scrap metal he was carrying and tried to run away. Our officer and a backup vehicle managed to corner him in Beachway Road. “He was arrested and handed over to the Durban North SAPS who attended the scene,” he said. Moodley commended the officers and the police for their strong team work.
