Blue Security has clinched top place in The Standard Bank KZN Top Business Awards for being the best in the category of business service providers in the province. The company also walked away with an additional accolade, receiving second place in the best brand category in the prestigious awards which were announced at a gala dinner in Durban.
KZN Top Business Portfolio CEO and publisher Grant Adlam said the firm was selected from 40 finalists in the categories following stiff competition for the top spots.
Adlam said the winners in the best service provider category were selected by an independent panel of judges who assessed each finalist on its business practises, guided by how they rated according the good corporate governance ideals outlined in the King IV Report. “The significance of winning is huge because there a lot of business services in the category and the fact that they came out as a finalist and a winner is full credit to Blue Security,” Adlam said.
Adlam said the awards aimed to give local businesses recognition for their top performance and contribution to society.
Blue Security managing director Henk van Bemmelen said it was the first time the firm had participated in the awards and it was a complete surprise to be named as the winner in the category. The company employs over 600 people in the province and provides a professional armed response service to thousands of clients in the greater Durban area. “We are thrilled and honoured to come out as the winner in the best service provider category. We attribute this accolade to our dedicated team of staff who are committed to serving our clients with professionalism and integrity and who go the extra mile to improve the safety and security of the communities in which we work,” van Bemmelen said.
The company was also awarded second place in the best brand category after thousands of customers and fans voted for the firm in a KZN Top Business Awards survey. “We would like to thank our customers, many who also work closely with us to fight crime in their communities through neighbourhood watch and patrol groups, for their appreciation of our efforts demonstrated in this strong vote of confidence in our brand. We look forward to strengthening our relationships as we serve and partner with our communities in the future,” van Bemmelen said.
