A Blue Security armed response officer single-handedly arrested a gang of seven metal thieves who had gained entry onto a business premises in Mobeni yesterday.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said nine suspects had accosted security guards on the South Coast Road property before forcing their way inside to steal metal from the site. The incident occurred at around 11.50am.
“Our officer responded to the scene and immediately called for backup when he realised he was outnumbered. Undeterred by the sheer size of the gang, he drew his firearm and managed to apprehend seven of the suspects,” Mathios said.
“Two suspects who had managed to flee the scene by jumping over the fence with stolen metal in their possession, were later found running in South Coast Road and were arrested by the SAPS flying squad,” Mathios said.
The suspects were handed over to the Montclair SAPS.
