Let’s take a closer look at what’s been happening this week.
St Winifreds, Wessex Drive. Armed Robbery – Business(11 May 2011, 8:28:41) A suspect entered the shop, produced a firearm and held up the client. The suspect demanded keys to the client’s vehicles and the suspect fled in a red VW GTI Polo, registration ND 200362. Pinetown, Underwood Road. Armed Robbery – Business (13 May 2011, 22:46:23) Three black males driving a silver Nissan Sentra arrived on the premises. A suspect produced a firearm and held up an attendant and demanded cash from the cashier. The suspects fled in an unknown direction with R43 000 in cash. Cash is the most popular target for robbery. Do not hold large amounts of cash in your till. Keep it to the bare minimum and keep excess cash in a secure safe. Criminals often return to premises where they’ve had a successful heist. Amanzimtoti, Doonside. Theft of a Motor Vehicle - Business (11 May 2011, 9:48:54) A silver Mercedes Benz registration ND 277200 was stolen from a parking garage. Doonheights, Mimosa Avenue, Gatecrashing – Residential (11 May 2011, 9:20:30) Suspects forced open the driveway gate. A window was forced open and the burglar guard pushed in. A plasma screen TV, a DVD player and jewellery were stolen. A neighbour reported seeing the suspects flee in a white VW Passat ND 288253. It was reported that the suspects were armed with firearms. Kloof, Alamein Road. Gatecrashing – Residential (14 May 2011, 14:23:05) Suspects derailed the driveway gate and forced open the security gate and front door. An AMP and surround sound were stolen. Farningham Ridge, Argyle Road. Housebreaking – Residential (10 May 2011, 17:04:58) Suspects forced open the kitchen door and entered the premises. A TV and an xbox were stolen. Seaview, Marnevale Road. Housebreaking – Residential (11 May 2011, 6:07:56) Suspects jumped over the perimeter wall and entered the house through an open window. Two cell phones were stolen. Gillitts, Firwood Road. Housebreaking – Residential (11 May 2011, 10:49:42) Suspects broke down the front door and entered the house. A flat screen TV was stolen. New Germany, Alfred Road. Housebreaking – Residential (14 May 2011, 8:18:32) Suspects broke into the garage and stole a brush cutter. This thief will now go from house to house offering his services to cut and trim lawns. Watch out for these casual ‘gardeners – they only want an excuse to get onto your property so they can case it out. Pinetown, Victory Drive. Housebreaking – Residential (14 May 2011, 16:44:06) Suspects climbed onto an awning, opened the window and kicked in the burglar guard. Jewellery, three cell phones and cash were stolen. Carrington Heights, Gwenneth Place. Housebreaking – Residential (15 May 2011, 3:06:06) Suspects forced open a back window and pushed in a burglar guard. A TV and clothes were stolen. Durban Central, Mitchel Road. Housebreaking – Business (11 May 2011, 7:57:34) Suspects removed louvre windows and fished out clothing from the premises with a pole. Berea, Berea Road. Housebreaking – Business (13 May 2011, 4:11:49) Suspects broke the front window and entered the premises. Cigarettes were stolen. Redhill, North Coast Road. Housebreaking – Business (15 May 2011, 12:03:00) Suspects forced open the pedestrian gate and entered the premises. A laptop and cash were stolen. Sunningdale, Round the Green. Theft – Residential (11 May 2011, 10:12:52) Two Indian males posing as airconditioning technicians were allowed access to the house by the resident’s mother-in-law. The suspects went upstairs to check on the airconidtioning unit and the resident’s mother-in-law secured the dogs in the yard. On returning to the house she noticed that the suspects had fled with a 42” LCD TV. Some weeks back in Malvern a similar incident took place. Be very cautious about who you admit to your property – scams seem to be on the increase. Waterfall, Tiger Avenue. Theft – Residential (13 May 2011, 5:41:57) Suspects forced open a trailer and a bag was stolen. Marianridge, Theft – Business (14 May 2011, 23:40:47) Aluminium doors were stolen from the premises. Chatsworth, New Market Street. Attempted Theft of a Motor Vehicle – Business (15 May 2011, 1:58:09) The client reports that a former employee and two Indian males were tampering with his bakkie that was parked at the entrance to the premises. Make sure you have up to date information about staffs’ residential addresses and keep a copy of their IDs on file – for in case there’s a nasty incident like this. SUCCESSES Kloof, Old Main Road. Gatecreashing – Residential (12 May 2011, 0:57:56) The suspects forced open the driveway gate. The security gate and front door were forced open and the suspects entered the house. The Reaction Officer apprehended two suspects on the street carrying a guitar and an AMP. A camera stand, clothes, blankets, cosmetics and two bags were recovered at the back of the property. Durban North, Stirling Crescent. Housebreaking – Residential (13 May 2011, 3:43:21) The resident was at home when suspects forced open the front door and entered the house. The alarm triggered and the suspects fled. Greyville, Henwood Road. Theft – Business (15 May 2011, 5:12:00) Copper water pipes were stolen from the premises. The alarm activated and the suspects fled. Metal thieves cause a tremendous amount of costly damage to premises. The alarm siren chased these thieves before they could do any more havoc to the property. Clare Estate, Clare road. Housebreaking – Business (15 May 2011, 5:55:00) Suspects climbed over the perimeter fence and broke into a storeroom. Two suspects were arrested by SAPS and a bed was recovered.
