Blue Alert for all Areas for the week preceding 11 December 2009 We have had a number many house breaking’s this week where was stolen, we’d like to believe that it improved reaction times that are resulting in the criminals being disturbed before they managed to steal anything. Remember, now that the holidays are getting into full swing, criminals are certainly not going to be taking any breaks, so keep your wits about you and make sure your security systems are tested and functioning properly. Let’s have a look at what else has been going on this week. Musgrave, Berea Road. Assault - GBH (3 Dec, 20:17) 2 colored males attempted to stab the owner of the establishment while he was getting into his car. He managed to escape unharmed. The suspects fled in a silver bakkie with GP plates. Westmead, Suzuka Road. Armed Robbery - Business (5 Dec, 00:17) 4 armed black males violently assaulted a security guard and took his cellphone. The guard was seriously injured and taken to hospital. Such violence, all for a cellphone. These criminals have not one shred of humanity left in them. Pinetown, Garden Road. Armed Robbery - Residential (9 Dec, 04:41) A white female was stabbed in her arm and robbed by a black male. Suspect fled with her cellphone and other unknown items. She was taken to hospital. Glenwood, Davenport Road. Housebreaking - Business (5 Dec, 04:06) Front door was forced open and entry gained. A plasma TV was stolen. Springfield Park, Inanda Road. Housebreaking - Business (5 Dec, 04:02) Window was forced open and entry gained. A laptop and computer were stolen. Phoenix , Krishna Desai Drive. Housebreaking - Business (5 Dec, 06:23) Suspects smashed the bottom half of the glass door with a brick, the locks on the gates were cut and entry was gained. A cash register with cash to the value of R10 000, chocolate and cigarettes were stolen. Mmm, chocolate and cigarettes…some people just can’t resist! Musgrave, St Thomas Road. Housebreaking - Business (6 Dec, 15:58) On his arrival front door Blue Security Reaction Officer noticed that the front door had been forced open. A plasma TV was stolen. Westmead, First Street. Housebreaking - Business (8 Dec, 03:01) Suspects smashed the window and used a wire to fish out cigarettes, air-time, chicken and meat from the display counter. Bluff, Glenardale Road. Housebreaking - Residential (3 Dec, 11:04) The back door glass was broken, gate forced open and entry gained. A hand watch to the value of R1 000 and gold bracelet were stolen. Berea, Halford Road. Housebreaking - Residential (4 Dec, 11:03) The garage door at the back was forced open, the kitchen door was booted in and burglar gate was forced open. A radio was stolen. Durban North, Earlswood Place. Housebreaking - Residential (5 Dec, 22:15) Suspects broke the rear window and gained entry into the premises. A DVD player, laptop and an undisclosed amount of jewellery were stolen. Resident stated that she did not arm the system. Northdene, Stevens Road. Housebreaking - Residential (7 Dec, 19:30) Suspects smashed back bedroom window and gained entry. An unknown amount of jewellery was stolen. Durban North, Hunters Street. Housebreaking - Residential (7 Dec, 20:16) Rear window was forced open and since the spacing on the burglar bars are wide, the suspects managed to slip through and gain entry. A cellular phone and wallet were stolen. The wallet was recovered but the cash and credit cards were missing. Umbilo, Flemming Johnston Road. Housebreaking - Residential (9 Dec, 17:52) Outbuilding sliding door was forced open undetected as there is no alarm. A pair of Nike shoes, a braai pack and a Russell Hobbs iron were stolen. Durban North, Chelsea Road. Theft (8 Dec, 12:14) 2 black males came to the premises pretending that they looking for a receptionist job. The switchboard operator left her desk to obtain further information about vacancy but when she returned she noticed her HP 6100 laptop was missing from her desk and suspects had fled. Bothas Hill, Rob Roy Crescent. Theft (4 Dec, 00:54) A bicycle was stolen from the veranda. Morningside, Florida Road. Mugging / Assault (5 Dec, 10:05) A member of the public was robbed by 3 black males for R2 500 cash and his cellular phone. The suspects were all armed and fled in a white VW Passatt. SUCCESSES / CRIME AVOIDANCE Berea, Berea Road. Theft (5 Dec, 01:04) A bar lady was robbed of her Nokia – 6210 cell phone and gold neck chain by an off duty security guard. The barman gave chase and caught the suspect who was handed over to SAPS. Glenwood / Glenmore, Kennard Rise. Theft of Motor Vehicle (9 Dec, 13:31) While patrolling the area around 1:00am, Blue Security Reaction Officer noticed a white Combi parked on the road with a black male occupant in the driver’s seat. The Blue Security Reaction Officer then stopped and confronted the male who stated that the vehicle had broken down. Reaction Officer then noticed another black male walking down the road and then drove towards him. He asked the male about his activities as he noticed that he was looking very nervous. Reaction Officer requested SAPS to be notified and waited for them to arrive. It was then discovered that the male who was in the Combi vehicle had fled and the other suspect was then handed over to SAPS. It was established that the vehicle was stolen from the same road.
