BLUE ALERT FOR ALL AREAS FOR THE WEEK ENDING 14 AUGUST 2009

It’s been a busy few day’s on the crime side.  Housebreaking stats are still high so maybe it’s a good time to give your home security an overhaul.  Let’s take a look at what’s been going on this week.

Pinetown, Moodie Street. Armed Robbery – Business (07 August - 20:48) 
2 armed black males entered the premises and held the cashier up and took a bag containing a large sum of money.  The suspects fled in a white VW Golf, they opened fire on an armed response vehicle that happened to be in the area. SAP gave chase but the suspects managed to evade arrest.

New Germany, Bosse Street. Housebreaking – Residential (09 August – 10:59)
A window was broken and burglar bars pushed in and entry gained. A TV, DVD’s and games were stolen.

Umhlanga / La Lucia, Kingston Place,. Housebreaking – Residential (09 August – 15:43)
Driveway gates derailed, front security gate locks cut and door forced open. A 43 inch plasma TV and a laptop were stolen.

Glenwood / Glenmore, Pinewood Gardens. Armed Robbery – Residential (08 August - 11:52)
2 armed black males jumped over the fence and held the gardener at gunpoint.  The suspects then took the vehicle keys for a Tata Indica but while trying to reverse the car, they hit the driveway gate. The suspects then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Amanzimtoti, Beach Road. Housebreaking – Business (06 August - 07:40)
The front door glass was broken and entry gained into premises. A plasma TV was stolen.

Glenwood, Dan Pienaar Road. Housebreaking – Residential (06 August - 12:54)
Front gate and door forced open. Shoes, shirts and a digital camera were stolen.

Umbilo, Gale Street. Housebreaking – Business (07 August - 02:21)
Suspects gained entry via the roof. 3 computers were stolen.

Westmead, Monte Carlo Road. Housebreaking – Business (08 August - 12:09)
The back window was forced open, burglar bars pushed in and entry gained into premises. Computers were stolen.

Winkelspruit, Camp Road. Housebreaking – Business (11 August - 04:38)
Suspects gained entry by forcing open the front door. 6 computers were stolen.

Henwood Road, New Germany, Housebreaking – Business (11 August - 08:43)
Reaction officer conducted an internal inspection with owners and found approximately 30 tyres had been stolen.

Durban North, Lonsdale Road. Housebreaking – Residential (11 August - 09:24)
Suspects gained entry into the Wendy house by breaking the window. A computer and office equipment were stolen.

Kloof, Willingdon Avenue, Housebreaking – Residential (11 August - 10:36)
Suspects gained entry into the property by breaking the rear bedroom window and forcing in the burglar bars. A computer was stolen.

Hillcrest, Delamore Road, Housebreaking – Residential (11 August – 18:21)
The bedroom window was broken and entry gained into premises. A laptop was stolen.

Bluff  / Jacobs, Cluver Crescent. Housebreaking – Residential (12 August - 06:06)
Resident saw 2 suspects run along her wall and jump into premises. Suspects entered front door which was open and stole the resident’s laptop, handbag, car keys and 2 cellphones and fled with her black Opel Corsa (CAM16637).

Hillcrest, Delamore Road. Housebreaking – Residential (12 August – 22:11)
Entry was gained via the kitchen. The burglar bars were removed and jewellery was stolen.

Umhlanga / La Lucia, Oyster Crescent. Housebreaking - Residential (07 August - 14:10)
The lounge window was broken and entry gained into premises.  A plasma TV and 3 laptops were stolen.

Westville, Rockdale Avenue. Housebreaking - Residential (07 August – 21:25) 
5 black males entered the property via the rear gate and assaulted the resident. They stole her bag and hi-fi and fled.

Pinetown, Fleisher Road. Housebreaking – Residential (06 August - 11:16)
Front burglar bars and front door forced. A hi-fi, flat screen TV, laptop, DSTV decoder and DVD player were stolen.

Manor Gardens, Rus Place. Housebreaking – Residential (06 August – 10:35)
Front gate and door forced open. A laptop and jewellery to the value of R25 000 were stolen. 

Pinetown, Stride Road. Housebreaking - Residential (06 August – 07:40)
Suspects derailed the side gate and gained entry into the shed which does not have an alarm system. A chainsaw was stolen. 

Morningside, Innes Road. Fraud (07 August - 11:48)
2 black males entered the premises and purchased 2 watches to the value of R78 000 using a stolen credit card.

Hawkstone Road, Summerveld, Theft (07 August – 00:47)
Residents’ horse blankets had been stolen.

Hillcrest, Old Main Road.  Theft (07 August - 13:04)
2 black males entered the premises looking for a job, but were that there was no vacancy available. Employee stated after they left she noticed that her Nokia cellphone had been stolen by the suspects. 
 
Amanzimtoti, Doonside. Theft of Motor Vehicle (06 August – 04:03)
Green Uno (Reg: ND 182 934) was stolen.

Pinetown, Drake Road. Theft of Motor Vehicle (07 August – 14:27)
A white Opel Kadet (Reg: NPN 7004) was stolen.

Glenwood / Glenmore, Brunswick Road. Theft of Motor Vehicle (06 August - 20:21)
Resident’s visiting friend parked his red VW Golf (Reg: ND 462899) outside the premises and when he returned 15 minutes later, the vehicle had been stolen.

Glenwood / Glenmore, Newhaven Road. Theft of Motor Vehicle (06 August - 20:49)
While having a braai outside, resident saw suspects stealing her white VW Golf (Reg: ND 240 491) which was parked outside the premises. Resident gave chase but the suspects got away with vehicle.


SUCCESSES

Glenwood / Glenmore, Dan Pienaar Road. Hijacking (06 August - 19:27)
Resident was hijacked in his Susuki Vitara by 3 armed black males driving a white Opel (Reg: ND 491203). Blue Security Reaction Officer patrolled the area and found a member of the community watch wrestling with one of the suspects (The vehicle’s anti-hijack system activated and the vehicle stalled). He assisted him in subduing the suspect and handcuffing him. The reaction Officer undertook a further patrol for the other 2 suspects and found the white Opel abandoned on the road on Queen Mary Avenue. SAP was informed and it was discovered that the vehicle had been stolen earlier that evening from Baines Road.

New Germany, Newbury Drive, Attempted Housebreaking (07 August – 03:59)
Resident states that a suspect entered his property and when he heard the noise he woke up and pursued the suspect. He fired a shot which hit the suspect on his left shoulder. Resident thereafter left the premises and went to the police station to report incident. No entry gained, nothing stolen and suspect could not be found.

Pinetown, Glenugie Road. Armed Robbery – Business (08 August - 10:59)
2 armed black males entered the premises and held owner up but fled when he pressed the panic button.

Caversham Glen, Marianridge Drive. Armed Robbery – Residential (10 August - 15:36)
Resident advised that while visitors where leaving their premises, a white Mercedes (Reg: LVB.... GP) pulled up behind them with 4 armed suspects, who held them up. Suspects stole a handbag containing a cellphone, house keys and bank cards. Resident then discharged one round from her firearm. Suspects then fled. Resident’s vehicle was not stolen.
