BLUE ALERT FOR THE DURBAN NORTH AREA FOR THE WEEK ENDING 6 MAY 2009 La Lucia Ridge, Sunset Boulevard. Armed Robbery - Business (4 May, 09:01) Staff were held up by 2 black males and 1 asian male. R40 000 in cash, an undisclosed number of cell phones and undisclosed amount of jewellery were stolen. The staff were beaten and highly traumatized. Crisis care and medical attended Mount Edgecombe, North Coast Road. Housebreaking – Business (30 April, 03:06) Front door glass was broken and entry gained. An HP laptop, cool drinks and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen Durban North, Northway. Hijacking - Business (service station) (29 April, 01:02) On responding to a panic activation the Blue Security Reaction Officer reported that on arrival the cashier advised him that a hijacking occurred and the owner of a dark bottle green Nissan Hardbody, a white male, was forced into the vehicle with 2 armed black male suspects. A second Blue Security Reaction Officer was en-route to station to provide back-up when he spotted the Nissan on North Coast Road. Reaction Officers pursued the vehicle and suspects then opened fire on Victor Road. Reaction Officers exchanged fire with the suspects, who then stopped in Bhungezi Road, abandoned the vehicle and fled into the bushes. The abducted owner was found in the vehicle unharmed. Briardene. North Coast Road. Housebreaking (5 May, 05:27) Front gates forced open and entry gained. A bath tub was removed from the premises and left on the roadside. “Let’s break in… Hmmm, what shall we take? Audio visual Equipment – nope. Computers – nope. Oh WOW! Let’s take the bath!!” Surely these geniuses would have figured that carrying a bathtub around would probably be a little suspicious and rather cumbersome…before they carried it outside? Housebreaking – Business (3 May, 05:31) Front door and gate were forced open and entry gained. 4 computers were stolen and the office ransacked. Briardene, Stanhope Crescent. Housebreaking - Business (4 May, 07:49) Entry gained through the roof. 120 computer towers stolen. Wow, that’s quite a haul! Remember, detection beams aren’t just limited to the inside of your premises, you can have in your roof and outside as well. Umgeni Park, Ridgeside Road. Housebreaking (1 May, 12:16) The driveway gate was forced open and a bedroom window broken. A TV was stolen. Glen Anil, Camelia Street. Housebreaking (30 April, 12:51) The front gate and door were forced open and entry gained. A plasma TV, laptop and an undisclosed amount of cash were stolen.
