Electric Fencing

Perhaps one the most underestimated security devices is the electrified security fence. An electric fence system consists of a varying number of strands of electric wires which carrying high voltage electric pulses. If the fence is touched it delivers a non-lethal, but none the less extremely powerful shock to a would-be intruder. Ideally the fence should be zoned and connected to the property’s alarm system so that any tampering on the fence line will result in an alarm activation.

While in the past a security fence was regarded primarily as physical barrier designed specifically to delay an intruder, the modern electric security fence acts in a number of ways which combine to make it a very effective security intervention:
  • It is a physical barrier,
  • It is a psychological barrier,
  • It is an early detection device.

While the fundamentals of an electric fence remains the same, variables such as the number of strands, the distance between the strands, the length and number of zones as well as the integration with other types of fencing or walls are determined by the requirements of each individual client. This ensures that each Blue Security electric fence installation is uniquely designed to meet the needs of the client.
